KBR signs MoUwith L&T Hydrocarbon
Engineering Ltd

BR has signed a memorandum
of understanding (MoU) with
L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Ltd
(LTHE) for refinery and
petrochemical projects.
Under the terms of the
agreement, KBR and LTHE will
collaborate to develop business
opportunities for which KBR will
license proprietary technology and
engineering services, and LTHE will
be the engineering, procurement
and construction (EPC) provider.
LTHE will exclusively bid for
projects globally, with specific
focus in India, Southeast Asia, the
Middle East and Africa involving
KBR’s solid acid alkylation
technology (K-SAAT
TM
), solvent
de-asphalting technology (ROSE®),
and catalytic olefins technology
(K-COT
TM
).

TechnipFMC and Clariant sign joint
development agreement
T
echnipFMC and Clariant Catalysts
have announced that they have
entered into a joint development
agreement for the demonstration
and commercialisation of Clariant’s
new state-of-the-art AcryloMax®
propylene ammoxidation catalyst for
the production of acrylonitrile. This
new collaboration will bring together
Technip Energies’ expertise in fluid
bed technologies and process
development with Clariant’s
experience and knowledge in the
development, manufacturing and
supply of catalysts for the
petrochemical industry.
In a statement, the companies
said that the agreement serves as an
example of their efforts to develop
and commercialise more efficient
process technologies and to help
customers achieve sustainability
targets.
Technip Energies’ research centre
in Weymouth, Massachusetts, US,
will soon be commissioning a large
demonstration reactor to test the
technology.
BASF has started the piling work of the
first plants of its smart Verbund project
in Zhanjiang, Guangdong, China. This is an
important milestone in the development
of the company’s US$10 billion
investment project since its official
commencement in November 2019. The
first plants will produce engineering
plastics and thermoplastic polyurethane
(TPU) to serve the increasing needs of
various growth industries in the southern
China market and throughout Asia.
ClearSign Technologies Corp. has received
a purchase order from ExxonMobil to
fabricate and install the company’s
ClearSign Core
TM
process burners at its
Baytown, Texas refinery. The test will
comprise a multi-burner process heater
and burners incorporating the ClearSign
Core NO
X
reduction technology.
Viva Energy has announced that it is
proceeding with the major maintenance
of the residue catalytic cracking unit
(RCCU) at its Geelong Refinery in
Australia under a revised structure in
response to the impacts of COVID-19.
The project has been restructured to
commence earlier than planned and over
a longer period of time to better manage
the COVID-19 risks. Some work has been
deferred until 2021 but preparations
are underway with work formally
commencing in early July and due to
conclude by November 2020.
Pertamina and CPC Taiwan agreed
to follow up on the cooperation in
the development of the Integrated
Petrochemical Industrial Complex in
Balongan, West Java, Indonesia, with an
investment of US$8 billion.

KIPIC and Honeywell extend strategic
agreement
H
oneywell and Kuwait Integrated
Petroleum Industries Co. (KIPIC)
have extended their strategic
collaboration, signing a five-year,
multi-million dollar contract for
services to protect, maintain and
optimise operations at the Al Zour
refinery and LNG import terminal in
southern Kuwait.
The contract will see the
deployment of Honeywell Forge, an
advanced Enterprise Performance
Management software platform
with robust cybersecurity
capabilities that simplify, strengthen
and scale industrial cybersecurity
operations. The implementation will
bolster network and endpoint
security at KIPIC’s new 615 000 bpd
crude refining plant and
3 trillion Btu/d LNG import facility.
Honeywell Assurance 360, an
outcome-based,
performance-focused service
management program, will also be
implemented at the sites.
