Rotork

Rotork is a leading global provider of mission-critical

flow control and instrumentation solutions for oil and

gas downstream applications. Its products are in all

downstream applications, from refining and processing,

to the final distribution of products to the end user and

consumer.

The company’s new digital smart positioner is

suitable for both control and on/off valve applications

where enhanced diagnostics are required. It is ideal for

highly critical applications in chemical/petrochemical

processes.

The YT-3700 and YT-3750 pneumatic smart

positioners employ continuous monitoring and graphic

display of valve position, set point target over time and

internal circuit board temperature over time.

With single and double-acting configurations

available, they provide reliable control of pneumatic

valve systems for linear and rotary applications.

Valve diagnostic information to NE107 standard is

provided, with Hart® 7 communication protocol included

as standard and a display for all settings and local device

interaction. Commissioning can be handled locally

without the need of an additional device. All indications

are clear and simple to follow thanks to the clear visual

identification on the local display and the four push

buttons.

The enhanced diagnostic package offers position

over time continuous monitoring, and graphical

visualisation through Device Description (DD) and

Device Type Manager (DTM) files. Additionally, valve

signature, advanced step tests and partial stroke testing

(PST) can be operated from local or remote positions.

Auto-tuning functionality and a non-contact sensor are

included for high frequency operating valves and an

enhanced lifetime.

The steady state deviation analysis that they provide

can detect friction in the valve or actuator, leakage in

pneumatics and instances where there is insufficient

supply pressure. A deviation time-out alarm occurs when

the difference between the target position and the

actual position exceeds the pre-set deviation alarm

point (for more than the pre-set deviation time).

To match emergency shutdown (ESD) systems for

on-off applications, the YT-3700 range offers a full

package of offline diagnostic tests including both valve

signature and PST. All information can be stored on the

device or downloaded for customer records.

The YT-3700 and YT-3750 are certified to

ATEX/LEXIEX standards and can operate in temperatures

as low as -55°C.

Union Tech

Union Tech is a leading manufacturer of severe-service

metal-seated ball valves (MSBV) and rising-stem ball

valves (RSBV). The company’s valves are installed

worldwide in critical applications across the entire

petroleum supply chain.

Union Tech’s methodologies and capabilities enable

the rapid development of bespoke sealing and isolation

solutions that are fit for purpose. Examples of the

company’s customised solutions include the following:

„

For a biofuels plant that converts non-food

biomass feedstocks (e.g. wood, agricultural

residues, algae, aquatic plants, and municipal

wastes) directly into gasoline, jet, and diesel

drop-in transportation fuels, Union Tech developed

and built Z2 metal-seated ball valves specifically

for this proprietary renewable energy technology.

„

For a solar steam plant that delivers steam to an

enhanced oil recovery (EOR) field, Union Tech

designed and manufactured Z2 metal-seated ball

valves for an emergency shutdown isolation

application capable of severe thermal cycling under

extreme pressures.

„

For a methanol-to-olefins (MTO) project,

Union Tech engineered and manufactured a

package of Z4 rising-stem ball valves and pneumatic

actuators from 1.5 in. up to 10 in. for the molecular

sieve application.

A bespoke Union Tech 3x3-600# Z2 valve for a biofuels

plant.
