REMBE

REMBE is mostly associated with REMBE GmbH Safety

and Control, which specialises in explosion safety and

pressure relief worldwide. The company offers

customers cross-industry safety concepts for systems

and equipment. All products are manufactured in

Germany and meet the demands of national and

international regulations.

The use of dry gas seals on large operating

equipment such as turbocompressors has increased

significantly over a number of decades, particularly in

harsh working environments such as oil and gas,

petrochemical and gas processing industries. A dry gas

seal uses a clean gas under pressure on the external side

of the seal, so that any leakage through the seal is the

buffer gas into the compressor. Not only does this

protect the environment from being contaminated with

process gas, but it keeps dirty gas from getting inside the

seal and causing damage.

An important component of a dry gas seal is the vent

system. For the primary vent system, a rupture disc is

typically installed in parallel with the vent line to

rupture at a set pressure and prevent excessive pressure

to instruments on a primary seal failure. A signalling

system on the primary vent system is recommended to

enable integrity checks while the seal system is still

online.

Customers using dry gas seals require rupture discs

to be installed to vent excess pressure in the event that

a catastrophic failure of the primary seal occurs. In the

event the pressure increases beyond its predetermined

limit, a higher gas flow or back pressure in the piping

system is present and needs to be safely vented. A

signalling device is also required to detect a change in

the rupture discs status in order to initiate a shutdown

of the process in the event of an overpressure situation.

REMBE’s reverse acting rupture disc with an

integrated polyamide signalling device (SGKIKB) is a

cost-effective rupture disc suitable for the demanding

conditions found in dry gas seal applications. Used

extensively in downstream projects, the IKB is the only

reverse acting rupture disc to be manufactured using

REMBE’s unique Contour Precision Lasering (CPL)

technology ensuring high quality, accurate, burst control

even in the harshest of environments.

Nikkiso ACD, LLC

The Cryogenic Pumps unit of Nikkiso’s Clean Energy &

Industrial Gases group (CE&IG) consists of ACD LLC and

Nikkiso Cryo Inc. The CE&IG Centrifugal Pumps unit is the

largest in the world, offering a broad scope of submerged

motor pumps. The performance pumps span the entire

range of needs, from small to large, and everything in

between.

The company specialises in centrifugal and

reciprocating pumps for the clean energy, industrial gas and

oil well service industries, as well as turbines for air

separation. Nikkiso ACD specialises in machinery designed

to operate at cryogenic temperatures as low as -420°F, the

boiling point of liquid hydrogen. Its diverse product lines

include a variety of cryogenic centrifugal and reciprocating

pumps for L/CNG applications, high pressure

cylinder/storage filling systems, trailer off loading, bulk

transfer, bunkering applications and storage tank filling.

Nikkiso Cryo’s innovative designs have resulted in the

first application of high pressure pumps for use on

regasification LNG carriers, the first and only cryogenic

pumps installed on an LNG GBS, compact high flow pumps

for the world’s largest FPSO under construction, as well as

compact, higher speed pumps used for a variety of LNG,

LPG and other applications.

Nikkiso Cryo’s original technologies have led to an

increase in reliability, with submerged motor cryogenic

pumps operating up to 40 000 hours before maintenance is

required.

ACD is ISO 9001-2015 certified; ensuring that every

component produced meets the highest standards of

quality in the industry.

Nikkiso ACD provides highly engineered solutions to

the most challenging problems in cryogenic equipment

design and operation, and develops innovative solutions to

meet tomorrow’s needs. The company also provides

excellent service and support for its products.

With skilled engineers, 65 field service technicians and

18 global locations, the Nikkiso CD&IG Pumps unit provides

timely, responsive service with integrity and a passion for

excellence.

friction between the ball and the seat. The

patent-pending bonnet reduces the area for coke

build-up, resulting in the actuator to be set at 40 – 50%

of the maximum torque rating. The addition of an internal

twin seal minimises the amount of process fluid entering

the body. As a top-entry switching valve, the DV-4

simplifies repair and trim replacement and allows the

valve to be serviced in-line, saving cost of crane and

manpower, and reducing downtime.

MOGAS valves installed performed for 11 – 12 hour

cycles between switching, which was considered “very

aggressive” and “top of industry” by a delayed coker

licensing company, when noting that the valves are

performing beyond expectations.
